The Return Experience

posted Tuesday, 25 July 2006
Good to be back. Kinda. The trip to Bulgaria was excellent and really relaxing - felt so much better by the end of it. First holiday for nearly 3 years - must get away more often!! Arranged to go with my parents to Derbyshire in September now as well - noty quite as exciting, but got lots of leave to use up at work and will be nice to get away twice in one year!!

The area of Bulgaria that we stayed in was very much a tourist beach resort - miles of sandy beach lined with hundreds of bars and restaurants, and countless shops selling counterfeit designer gear. Some of it was REALLY shit as well. I always assumed counterfeit stuff would be at least half decent, but most of it, especially the trainers, were utterly shite.

Admittedly though it was mildly amusing to see a resort full of penniless chavs all wearing Diesel tops, D&G sunglasses and sporting Prada handbags!!

Went on a nice mini boat trip one day around the beach areas, and coastline, which was lovely. Another evening we spent in a traditional Bulgarian village eating odd food and watching odd dancing - all good fun though and a nice change from the more commercialised areas.

Here's a nice view from our balcony, and a few other bits and pieces from the trip.....
